Flight

I photographed 6-year-old twins Genevieve and Guinevere at their home in Fiskdale, Massachusetts. They took turns swinging in the backyard, exploring time and space and laughter. All photographs were made with my Fuji X-T5 during the same afternoon.

The twins were foster children, adopted by my friend Rebecca. Rebecca had taken care of my children when they were young, and I'm astounded by her capacity to love and foster and mother countless children.

Genevieve and Guinevere took turns swinging in their new house in the backyard. The yard is steep and covered with new fall leaves, and gave them lots of room to swing and explore in space in a way that made me—and them—feel they were taking flight.
